3 Zhang Wenxin- DIARI DI BORDO ED. 2023

**11.4

The main director said a sentence that I really liked. "No matter who we are, we must step onto this stage." We form a big family where no one will be left behind. When we unite, we will eventually create miracles. This was a unique funeral, delivering the final message to us in an unparalleled way, indicating what we are doing. We're not just celebrating this event, we are celebrating the rebirth of these two individuals. Therefore, Shakespeare's expectation for us is that these great achievements of the past have never disappeared, and we understand that. How will all this end? It's no longer an instant thing, but rather profound and irreplicable. The origin of theaters is the celebration of both the awakening and natural death, where famous tragedies in sports start. The concept of death understood by Catholics is very different. It's pure and heavy. If this funeral depended on Catholics, it also means truly entering real life. Maybe, you shouldn't be sad after you die. But have you gone through heaven with all your pain? Not every religion requires this world to possess a specific name or speech ability. Fortunately, we, as a whole, are part of a bigger team where people can. bring their own experiences of drama, and everything is filled with endless possibilities.

**11.11

We constantly decide every moment, we decide what we become. I think about death, something once considered. unspeakable in the past. Most people either avoid it, don't want to think about it, find it ominous, painful, and are afraid of it. Or they think it's too early to think about it now, pointless, as we'll all die eventually, and we'll know when the time comes. In any case, no matter what people think about death, very few can peacefully face death in real life. Most people probably die in a state of collapse. Generally, people love life and hate death, primarily due to the strict separation between. the two. However, fundamentally, "life" and "death" are like conjoined twins; you can't separate them. Because from the moment a person is born, they're moving towards death, which is inherent in life, and so it is for all living things in the universe. All living beings go through a period of nurturing, then birth, growth, aging, and finally, death. Although life and death are different, the moment of life contains the element of death, they interpenetrate and are inherently connected. Yet, people generally fail to recognize the interpenetration of "life and death. Everyone wishes to live forever and fears the arrival of death. In people's eyes, life is filled with vitality, warmth, energy, and light, while death signifies the loss of vitality, it's cold, depleted, dark, and lifeless. But humans are creatures bound for death; whether accepted or not, death will come at a certain moment. Hence, people must face death and not evade the topic while alive because even if you want to avoid it, you can't. Since death itself isn't the root of people's fear, but rather the terrifying ideas derived from the phenomenon of death and not an actual entity. Especially when individuals consider their inevitable departure from this world, all the hard-earned achievements, wealth, love, everything, will vanish upon death, and they themselves will be reduced. to the level of stones, soil, dust, creating immense psychological fear.

This is the most recent encounter with death I've experienced since my drama class. A friend of mine almost lost his life due to an accident in the mountains. Throughout today's activities, I constantly recalled this experience Juliet and Romeo died due to external and internal forces amidst beautiful misunderstandings. Did they experience fear, dread in the face of death? Since we are born to die, and everything we have during our lifetime will inevitably be lost, what significance does "life" hold? What value does our struggle, gains, joys, sorrows hold in life? What's the point of living? I remember the philosophy I learned before. Nature existed before humans, operating by its own rules. Humans are but a small speck in the universe and are meaningless when compared to the whole of nature. However, individuals in this world seek and manifest human values. It's a contradiction the inherent meaninglessness and the meaning imposed by humans leading to confusion about the value of life. People usually cannot calmly accept the concept that death is empty, but they have not found a better way to give a more reasonable explanation. Everyone knows that everything ends when one dies, but no one wants to die, they all want to transcend death. Therefore, when science cannot solve these problems, people often turn to religion. Especially when they encounter misfortunes in life and cannot resolve them themselves, they naturally hope to seek psychological comfort and spiritual sustenance through religious belief. It is true that many words in the literatures are giving rise to infinitely beautiful reveries and yearning ablut . However, whether the death can be transcended we don’t know . The experiences of those who became Buddhas and immortals in a way maybe can only exist in legends, and cannot be experienced by the imagineers themselves. **11.25 I feel like it makes no difference whether I come to this drama or not. Sorry being too pessimistic. Apart from basic communication, I realized that the language of drama is not easily understood. I felt kind of loss. I think of a child calmly watching everyone express their opinions, but not understanding what they specifically said. I want to participate and learn more. Later, a friend helped me. She told me that I should not rest on my laurels or deny myself. There is no right or wrong here, only different ideas. I instantly understood the meaning of teamwork. Back to our deaths. Schopenhauer once said: "The emptiness of the living world is due to the fact that in all forms of existence, time and space are infinite, while individuals are limited. The sudden birth and sudden death of individuals make people feel that time and space are external to people. Human's Emotions cannot help resisting the contingency of existence and idealizing time and space without understanding that this idealization is just a meaningless behavior. The meaning of existence is only the momentary present, and everything else is not owned by humans." Let's let go of the thought of death for a moment. Human beings should not blindly search and discover the so-called value of the world itself, but should subjectively assign value to the world. value, and then find the value of human life. Just like the concept of beauty, some say it is subjective, while others say it is objective. Observational. The existence of beauty can only be displayed to the world through beautiful existences, and the existence of beauty itself cannot determine what beauty is. Only people, a special existence, can judge and classify what beauty is based on the standards they consider beautiful and draw from it. Appreciate beauty. The same is true for the value of human life. It certainly has meaning in itself, but if we search for its meaning, perhaps the thing we are searching for is meaningless.

**12.2

I felt a greater sense of presence in this drama class. Of course, I further confirmed that a career like being an actor is something. I love. I'm no longer ashamed to express my thoughts, and on the other hand, my ability to listen to and observe others' performances has greatly benefited me here. I witnessed the tension and intense emotions displayed by my groupmates during the performance. Although our drama originates from life, we don't stop at just portraying life, we add many other elements laughter, tears, contemplation, anger, awakening, struggle... This is the unique wisdom of us humans, making our drama an art derived from life but surpassing life itself. Just as I gradually adapt to this community, people often encounter things, then gradually get used to them, rarely considering things from the perspective of the value of life. The German philosopher Heidegger once said: "Precede into death." What does this mean? It suggests that people should place themselves in the position of death. From this perspective, you can review the trajectory of your life, distinguishing what's precious and valuable. Death itself isn't negative. Through exploring death, we can cherish life more. The process of human life moves in a unidirectional way from life towards death, a continuous process of making choices. In existentialism, as free individuals, we can make any right or wrong choices. But once any choice is made, we'll still regret the loss of the other... So what? The value of human life lies in how your existence brings about change in this already existing world. Even if we don't discuss the issue of death, it still exists, if you only sustain your life without doing anything, only consuming the wealth of others and society, such a life holds no value. Truly valuable life is that which calmly faces the existence of death, takes action within its limited lifespan, contemplates death while alive, realizes the preciousness of life, and sets a more positive outlook on life. When truly facing death, one can face it calmly. Today was a beautifully successful and unique experience. Thanks to everyone's joint efforts and companionship, and I believe everything will never die with the passage of time.

DIARI di Irene Cremonesi

GIORNO 2 - 4 novembre 2023
